xmas almost (t)here.

i am on the train back to milwaukee, greatly alleviated. today i spent the day in chicago, getting a last minute passport for a trip to france, switzerland, and spain. i find myself in these situations all the time. my previous book was only issued for a year. i asked why today. apparently if you've lost two back to back, they don’t give you the tenure. get it?

needless to say, i was freaking out when i realized i might miss out on our first family christmas vaction. i am so lucky my girlfriend thought to check the expiration date, because my general meticulousness is quite poor. thank goodness the city of big shoulders can put out a passport in a matter of hours. i am going to europe!!

while waiting for it to be printed out, i trekked through the streets of chicago, for once on foot. the city looks great. walking around gave me the chance to appreciate the insane amount of decor chicago has on its streets for the holidays. i decided to stage my own contest to see what high rise lobby has the best interior/cheer combo.

i believe the award goes to this one, and apparently this receptionist knew her lobby was a winner. free bikeith tee to the first person who guesses what building this is! messengers??

  1. Deloitte Building, 111 South Wacker. Trust a former Chicago corporate architect to get that one.
