winterims

i've not had much, but enough time to play with bikes alas! since starting a master's this fall, i've had to thwart my bicyness way too often.

big plans are in the works though. my sisters and i are planning a trip in june, and we are going to tour from vancouver to san francisco (on bike naturally). i've been on the lookout for proper tourers, and so far have found one of three. it's a really nice trek 620. and of course, like most bike transactions, i met a super guy in cleveland who also had a garage full of bicycles.

back in milwaukee, i whipped up a new monotone bicycle to ride around the snow. i found this large pony (68cm frame) parted out at milwaukee's bicycle collective. they were as happy that i was purchasing it as i was to find it. with a large collection of spare parts in multiple colors accumulating over the years, i was able to complete this build without buying anything new.

you have no idea how gratifying this is to me. maybe you do. it makes my world turn. the bar tape was also from a co-op. the saddle is a white vetta that was somewhat banged up; so i located a woman's dress at the local thrift and created a cover to match. the matching cables came from a bin in the shop. voila!

and for my first bicycle posted in over a year, i present the sea(foam)horse:
